Jakarta, February 10, 2025 – Bosch Home Appliances launched a social initiative titled Art for Impact #LikeABosch: An Auction to Support Childhood Cancer by Bosch Home Appliances for YKAI, to support children battling cancer in Indonesia. This program combines art, innovation, and solidarity to raise funds for the Indonesian Children’s Cancer Foundation (YKAI). The collaboration between Bosch, renowned artists, and YKAI will be showcased through an exhibition and auction of ten artistic refrigerators, each uniquely customized into a work of art.
This program coincides with International Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and highlights the importance of providing emotional and financial support to children undergoing cancer treatment. Each artwork on display carries a message of hope and resilience for families facing these difficult challenges. All proceeds from the auction will be donated to support YKAI’s programs that provide care and assistance to children fighting cancer.
Anil Narula, President Director of Bosch Home Appliances Indonesia, said, “Each refrigerator customized into a work of art is not just a household appliance but a symbol of hope and support for children battling cancer, especially during their treatment and recovery. We would like to thank YKAI, the artists, and childhood cancer survivors who have collaborated and participated, as they have realized how art and technology can inspire and empower them to create a real positive impact. This initiative aligns with our global social commitment, where health, education, and social issues remain our primary focus," Anil said to the media.
More than just art, each piece displayed carries a deep message and meaning related to the themes of hope and support for children with cancer. Each refrigerator was transformed into an artistic canvas, delivering messages of hope, strength, and joy under the theme "Food for Hope." Renowned artists such as Tutu, Muklay, Bunga Yuridespita, Meiliana, Erika Richardo, and Winola, along with child cancer survivors, participated in this social initiative. They were free to express their stories through vibrant colors, shapes, and symbols inspired by food as a source of strength.
Tutu, through her artwork "Spirit to Keep Moving Forward", conveys the message that it is essential to always give positive energy and optimism, even in the middle of difficulties. “The art on this fridge invites us to see every challenge as an opportunity and to keep moving forward with a strong spirit,” Tutu said.
Other artists such as Muklay, through his work "Always Fresh and Healthy Day", celebrates the importance of happiness and health in life. Bunga Yuridespita, with her two art, "Reconstruction Memories" and "Playful Memories", highlights colorful and cheerful childhood memories, symbolizing recovery and strength survive
Meiliana, with "Pattern of Love" integrates Indonesian batik motifs and Indonesian culinary elements to illustrate love and togetherness through food. Erika Richardo, in "Memorable Fest" describes the joy of depicting the joy of living while battling cancer. Meanwhile, Winola with "Fulfillment" symbolizes life's achievements using food-inspired elements that represent happiness and hope.
Ratu Iqlima and Imelda Wahjunisari, in collaboration with childhood cancer survivors M. Athalla Putra Sutanto, Caecilia Diah Sekar Ayu, and Aleena Nuzula Purnomo, created the two pieces of art "As Sweet as a Cherry" and "When Life Gives You Lemons". These artworks describe the resilience and strength of children in overcoming adversity. The cherry symbolizes beauty and happiness, while the lemon represents life’s challenges that can be transformed into valuable lessons.
The Chairperson of YKAI, Sallyana Sorongan, expressed deep gratitude to Bosch Home Appliances and the artists for this collaboration. “This program gives new hope for children and their families. Every bit of support, no matter how small, significantly impacts the care and assistance they need,” said Sallyana.
The exhibition will be held at Astha District Tower, Jakarta, from February 10 to 23, 2025. The auction will be conducted in hybrid, allowing participants to join online via the platform sidharta-auctioneer.com or directly at the exhibition on February 23, 2025.
By participating in this auction, each buyer will not only take home a unique piece of art but also contribute to giving hope to children battling cancer. The artistic fridges on display are not only works of art but also serve to gather support and raise awareness about the importance of supporting children with cancer in Indonesia.
