Focusing on Education and Nutrition, Bosch Indonesia Launches Sustainability Initiatives to Improve the Quality of Life for Indonesian Families
- Bosch Indonesia introduces the "Bosch Impacting for Life Project," a corporate social responsibility program aimed at enhancing the quality of life for Indonesian communities—especially children.
- In collaboration with Foodbank of Indonesia (FOI) and Sahabat Anak, Bosch Indonesia is committed to supporting better nutrition and education access for future generations as a key step toward developing high-quality human capital.
Jakarta, 16 Agustus 2024 - In celebration of Indonesia’s 79th Independence Day, Bosch Indonesia officially launched a new corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative titled the “Bosch Impacting for Life Project.” This program demonstrates Bosch’s ongoing commitment to improving the quality of life for Indonesian families. In 2024, the company is implementing four CSR projects focusing on four key pillars: Education, Health, Community Empowerment, and the Environment.
The initiative began with a collaboration with the Foodbank of Indonesia (FOI), through which Bosch Indonesia realized its education and health pillars by launching the Asah, Asih, Asuh program. This initiative supports improving children's health and nutrition by providing weekly nutritious meals and twice-monthly educational classes over six months to 90 early childhood students (PAUD) across three sites in Jakarta. The program's launch event was held at PAUD Kenanga 7 in West Jakarta and included a healthy meal distribution and an introductory class on nutritious foods. Bosch employees also participated as volunteers to support the event.
Emphasizing the objective of this program, Bosch Indonesia believes that proper nutrition is one of the key foundations for developing high-quality human resources. Pirmin Riegger, Managing Director of Bosch in Indonesia, stated, “We are very proud to collaborate with Foodbank of Indonesia (FOI) to reach even more communities—especially Indonesian children—who need access to quality, nutritious food in support of realizing the Golden Indonesia 2045 vision,” Pirmin told the media.
According to the 2023 Global Hunger Index, Indonesia ranks 77th with a score of 17.6, placing the country in the "moderate hunger" category. The report highlights that 1 in 4 Indonesian toddlers (21.6%) experiences stunting, and 1 in 6 (17.7%) suffers from malnutrition. These facts underscore the urgency and relevance of Bosch's child-focused CSR programs in partnership with FOI.
“We would like to express our appreciation to Bosch Indonesia for becoming our strategic partner in addressing food inequality in society. Through this collaboration, FOI and Bosch Indonesia actively participate in supporting food sovereignty in line with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) No. 2: ending hunger, achieving food security, improving nutrition, and promoting sustainable agriculture. We believe Bosch’s support will help ensure better nutrition for even more children well into the future,” said Mohamad Hendro Utomo, Founder of Foodbank of Indonesia.
Bosch Indonesia also plays an active role in the education pillar, working to provide equitable access to learning opportunities for marginalized children. Through a partnership with Sahabat Anak, the company offers scholarships and supports improving educational facilities and student development to help these children build a better future.
Pirmin continued, "Our social programs benefit both communities and Bosch itself, especially our employees. By involving employees directly as volunteers and donors, we not only support those in need but also build stronger connections between Bosch and the community."
This social collaboration is designed to continue for the next five years, with annual evaluations and support from the Primavera Foundation, a global charity established by Bosch employees. Primavera donates €10,000 annually to FOI to fund children's nutrition programs and an additional €5,000 annually to Sahabat Anak to support educational facility development for marginalized youth.
Through these ongoing CSR efforts, Bosch Indonesia remains committed to making a positive impact on the well-being of Indonesian families while helping build a brighter future. These initiatives are also aligned with Bosch's broader mission of improving quality of life through innovative technology and sustainable development. Looking ahead, Bosch will continue to expand its impact through community empowerment and environmental sustainability programs, including outreach to Indonesia's 3T regions (disadvantaged, outermost, and frontier areas) and the provision of clean energy access in areas such as Cikarang, West Java.
"This program is part of Bosch's consistent commitment to driving meaningful change—offering innovative and creative ideas that empower people to access a better life and future. It focuses on equitable access to education, quality nutrition, and environmental awareness, including access to clean water facilities," Pirmin concluded.
